.Kelly is back in a federal courtroom in Chicago, now facing charges that accuse him of enticing girls for sex, producing child pornography and rigging a 2008 child pornography case against him.

Kelly is 55 years old now and has denied any wrongdoing, but has been accused of sexual misbehavior for decades, and the prosecution wants to show the side of his life that they say Kelly has kept hidden, a dark side they claim he has

Jurors will see a video of R. Kelly having sexual contact with a minor

Assistant US Attorney, Jason Julien told the court that they will show jurors parts of three videotapes that allegedly show R. Kelly having sexual contact with his then 14-year-old goddaughter, Jane.

“The defendant, Robert Kelly, had sex with multiple children…… He made videotapes of himself having sex with children,” Julien stated to the court.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the prosecutors described Kelly as a serial predator that had sex with minors hundreds of times and went to extraordinary lengths to cover it up.

R. Kelly’s attorneys don’t like their client’s portrayal as a monster

Jennifer Bonjean, the attorney for R. Kelly told the jurors during these Wednesday’s opening statements that they shouldn’t believe the prosecutors portrayal of his client as a monster

“

When the government wants to paint him as a monster … you remember we are talking about a human being,” she told them.

Bonjean also acknowledged that while his client, to whom she referred to as Mr. Kelly, is imperfect, and that he had stumbled along the way during his journey from poverty to stardom, and believed that the jury would exonerate him after the trial
