Abuja, Nigeria – July 27, 2025 – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Monday, July 28, host the Super Falcons at the Presidential Villa in Abuja following their historic triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Nigerian women’s national football team is scheduled to arrive in the country late Sunday night after their dramatic comeback victory over the host nation, Morocco. The Super Falcons stunned the Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in the final on Saturday, recovering from a two-goal deficit to secure their 10th WAFCON title — further cementing their dominance in African women’s football.
Sources within the Presidency confirmed that the players and technical crew will be received at the State House, where President Tinubu is expected to commend their performance and announce significant rewards for their achievement.
In a show of support prior to the final, President Tinubu had approved the immediate payment of all outstanding match bonuses and allowances owed to the team — a gesture that was well-received by the players and coaching staff.
The Super Falcons’ victory marks a major milestone for Nigerian football and is expected to inspire a new generation of female athletes across the continent.
