President Tinubu Arrives in Makurdi to Visit Yelwata After Benue Massacre Claims Over 200 Lives

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, following the horrific attacks that claimed the lives of over 200 residents in the Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area.
The Nigerian leader touched down at the Makurdi Airport, located within the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force base, at exactly 12:58 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. His visit comes in response to widespread national outrage over the recent massacre believed to have been carried out by suspected armed herdsmen.
Tinubu’s trip to the region aims to assess the damage, meet with survivors, and coordinate federal government support for the devastated community.
The President’s visit is expected to send a strong signal of federal presence and concern, as tensions remain high in the wake of the two-day coordinated attack on Yelwata that left hundreds dead and homes razed.
More updates on the president’s visit and government response to the Benue tragedy are expected shortly.
