The Anambra State Police Command has dismantled a criminal hideout located at Umudike, Amaokpala in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state, recovering incriminating items, including hard drugs and cash.
In a press statement released on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that the raid was carried out on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at around 10:30 p.m. The operation involved a joint security team comprising operatives from the Oko Divisional Headquarters and vigilante operatives.
According to Ikenga, the team acted on intelligence-driven information that led them to the hideout, which was a hub of illegal activities. Items recovered during the operation included a large quantity of substances suspected to be hard drugs, two mobile phones, and N73,150 in cash believed to be proceeds from the drug sales.
“The joint security team stormed the location at Umudike, Amaokpala, and upon sighting the operatives, the criminals fled into the nearby bushes,” Ikenga said.
He added that the operatives destroyed the hideout to prevent the criminals from returning or regrouping. The police have also launched an ongoing offensive to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The Command reassured residents of its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in the state while urging them to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or security agency.
This latest operation underscores the Anambra State Police Command’s dedication to combating crime and maintaining public order in the region.
