Paul Okoye, one half of the renowned music duo P-Square, has officially confirmed the end of the group. In a recent statement circulated widely on social media, Paul, known as Rudeboy, expressed his desire to continue his musical journey as a solo artist.
Reflecting on the group’s dynamics, Paul voiced his frustrations, highlighting that he often felt he was the only one carrying the load while others benefited. “Those days of ‘monkey dey work, baboon dey chop,’ I no dey do am again,” he remarked, recalling his time with P-Square. “Every time, I sing every song by myself.”
The musician made it clear that P-Square would not be reuniting, emphasizing his decision to move forward independently without his twin brother, Peter Okoye. This confirmation follows Paul’s earlier expressions of frustration and his hesitance to delve into the ongoing feud between him and Peter.
In a recent interview on the Afrobeats Podcast, Paul was cautious about discussing the unresolved issues with his brother. Host Adesope posed a question about how Paul personally feels about the public perception of their split and the inability to reconcile.
Paul, however, chose to remain tight-lipped, citing his weariness with how his statements are often misinterpreted. “I am going to say something and I’m sorry. I know it’s a show but I’d rather not say anything. I’m tired of this twisting of statements; you’re a fan of P-Square and it’s my family. So why would I say something now that would turn into something else? Let’s stick to the Rudeboy,” he explained.
As Paul Okoye steps into his solo career, fans and industry observers will be watching closely to see how his new path unfolds.
