Panic in Lagos as Fire Engulfs UBA Branch, Workers Leap from Building to Escape Flames

Lagos Island — Chaos erupted on Monday when a fire broke out at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch on Lagos Island, sending staff and customers into panic.
The blaze, which started under yet-to-be-determined circumstances, quickly spread through parts of the multi-storey building. In videos circulating on social media, terrified employees were seen attempting to escape through windows, with some leaping from the upper floors in desperate bids to survive.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of fear and confusion as thick smoke billowed into the sky, drawing the attention of passersby and commuters.
As of press time, the exact cause of the fire had not been confirmed, and emergency agencies had yet to release an official statement. However, rescue teams were reported to be mobilizing to the scene to contain the inferno and prevent further casualties.
