More than 100 terrorists have reportedly been killed as Boko Haram engaged in intense fighting against ISWAP for control of strategic island settlements in Borno State.
Sources indicate that the clashes took place between November 5 and 8, 2025, across key islands including Sahel 1, Dogon Chuku, Mangari, and riverine areas such as Tumbun Gini, Tumbun Dalo, Tumbun Shanu, Mangari, and Dumba.
Boko Haram fighters, led by commanders Hassan Buduma and Mohd Hassan, launched coordinated assaults on ISWAP positions using multiple motorized watercraft equipped with heavy weapons. The attacks were described as “amphibious assaults in insurgent style,” advancing from Tumbun Gini through the upper river basin to strike ISWAP bases in early-morning offensives.
Eyewitnesses and field sources noted that the clashes resulted in significant losses for both sides, with Boko Haram reportedly gaining temporary control of several key locations.
Updates, including videos and images from the ground, are expected as monitoring of the conflict continues.
