Popular Afrobeats sensation Stanley Omah Didia, widely known as Omah Lay, has expressed dissatisfaction with the current state of the Nigerian music industry, describing it as “boring.”
The “Soso” crooner shared his thoughts via Snapchat, hinting at plans to rejuvenate the African soundscape with a new creative wave.
He wrote, “Una music industry is boring AF! Spirit is coming to shake up the continent soon.”
Omah Lay’s comments come amid growing discussions among Nigerian artists about the decline in creativity and excitement within the Afrobeats genre.
Recently, fellow singer Slimcase voiced similar concerns, arguing that the frequent release of songs by Afrobeats stars has made the industry monotonous.
According to the “Shaku Shaku” hitmaker, reducing the number of releases could help restore anticipation and freshness to the genre.
He said the over-saturation of new tracks was gradually “killing the vibe” that once made Afrobeats stand out globally.
Both artists’ remarks have sparked conversations among fans and industry stakeholders about the need for innovation and evolution in Nigerian music.
