NSCDC Rescues 8-Year-Old Boy Abandoned on Imesi-Ile Road in Osun, Seeks Public Help to Find Parents

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has rescued an eight-year-old boy identified as Elijah, who was found wandering along the Imesi-Ile/Otan-Ile Road in Osun State.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Adeleke Kehinde, Elijah was discovered in a distressed state, visibly confused, and unable to provide clear answers to questions from officers.

The boy revealed that he had been picked up in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, by an unknown man who later abandoned him in Osun. He explained that his mother had sent him on an errand before the incident but could not recall his surname or provide details that could help identify his parents.

According to Elijah, his father is a farmer and the family lives in Auchi, Edo State. However, he could not give additional information about his relatives.

The NSCDC said community leaders from Imesi-Ile and Otan-Ile were invited to help identify the child, but no one recognised him.

“The only consistent detail the child has provided is that he lives with his parents in Auchi and was abandoned in the Imesi-Ile/Otan-Ile area by an unknown individual,” the statement read.

Elijah is currently in the custody of the Osun State Command as investigations continue. The Corps has appealed to members of the public with credible information about the child’s family to come forward.

“Anyone who recognises Elijah or has useful information should contact the NSCDC Osun State Command immediately,” Adeleke urged, assuring that the boy’s welfare and safety remain a top priority until he is reunited with his parents.
