The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has cautioned that communities in Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe States may face flooding due to continuing rainfall and thunderstorms across the northern region.
In its weather forecast for Monday, September 15, 2025, shared on its official X handle, NiMet projected early morning thunderstorms in states such as Kaduna, Bauchi, Gombe, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba. Later in the day, heavier and more widespread storms are expected to hit Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, and nearby states.
The agency explained that the combination of intense rainfall and already saturated ground in vulnerable areas of the North-East could result in flash floods. Residents in high-risk locations were therefore advised to stay alert, take precautionary measures, and follow safety guidance to reduce the impact of potential flooding.
NiMet emphasized that the advisory is part of ongoing efforts to minimize disaster risks during the peak of the rainy season.
