Farmers have called for urgent government intervention, including investment in modern storage facilities, better logistics support, and access to preservation technologies. Agricultural specialists note that closing the storage gap would not only improve farmers’ earnings but also enhance food security and reduce inflationary pressures in the country.
“The lack of proper storage continues to undermine the hard work of our farmers. Unless we address this issue, Nigeria will continue to face food shortages and high post-harvest losses,” said an agricultural economist.
Experts emphasize that public-private partnerships and adoption of modern storage solutions are critical to safeguarding crops and stabilizing the nation’s food supply.
