Nigeria’s Inflation Decline Signals Tinubu’s Economic Reforms Are Working — Bwala

The Presidency has announced another decline in Nigeria’s headline inflation rate, attributing the consistent drop to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms.

According to a statement shared on Wednesday by Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, inflation fell from 20.12% in August to 18.02% in September 2025 — marking the sixth consecutive decline under the Tinubu administration.

Bwala described the trend as proof that the President’s fiscal and monetary policies are yielding results. “This consistent drop is not by chance. It is the outcome of bold reforms and targeted interventions in key sectors,” he stated.

He highlighted government support for agriculture, manufacturing, and foreign exchange reforms as driving forces behind the improvement, emphasizing Tinubu’s commitment to restoring economic stability and improving citizens’ purchasing power.

The Presidency also noted that international confidence in Nigeria’s economy is rising, citing the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) recent upward revision of the nation’s growth forecast. The IMF raised Nigeria’s 2025 projection from 3.4% to 3.9%, and 4.2% for 2026 — a move it described as a reflection of Nigeria’s reform-driven economic recovery.

“These projections show growing faith in Nigeria’s ability to sustain economic growth, attract investments, and deepen diversification beyond oil,” Bwala added.

He, however, stressed that the focus now should be on consolidating these gains by maintaining fiscal discipline, controlling inflation, and strengthening the real sector.

“The IMF’s outlook is not just a statistic — it’s a vote of confidence that Nigeria’s growth story is firmly back on track,” the Presidency declared.
