Nigeria’s Economy Thrived Under PDP, Collapsed Under APC – Party Spokesman Ologunagba

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that Nigeria’s economy was the largest in Africa and a top destination for foreign investors when it left office in 2015.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists on Wednesday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the APC-led government had undone nearly all the economic and social progress achieved under the PDP’s leadership.

“When we left office in 2015, Nigeria’s economy was valued at over $600 billion, ranking number one in Africa,” Ologunagba stated. “At that time, foreign investors were eager to bring capital into the country. Sadly, those gains have been completely eroded over the past decade.”

He lamented that the APC’s mismanagement has plunged Nigeria into economic hardship, adding that many citizens now reflect on the PDP era with nostalgia — a time he described as one of stability, democratic values, and growth.

According to Ologunagba, the PDP remains a party guided by principles, the rule of law, and inclusive dialogue. He said the party’s upcoming national convention will further strengthen internal democracy and reaffirm the PDP’s commitment to good governance.

He stressed that Nigerians, having experienced governance under both major parties, are now in a better position to judge which one has served the nation’s interests more effectively.
