Amid worsening economic hardship across the country, the Federal Government has announced record revenue figures, sparking outrage among Nigerians who say they are yet to feel the impact of such gains.
Despite the government’s claims of improved fiscal performance and rising earnings from taxes, oil, and non-oil sectors, many citizens continue to grapple with soaring inflation, high unemployment, and the rising cost of living.
Economic analysts argue that while revenue growth is important, the disconnect between government earnings and the welfare of ordinary Nigerians highlights a failure in translating national income into tangible benefits for the people.
“The government keeps announcing record revenue collections, but millions of Nigerians are still unable to afford basic necessities,” one analyst noted, stressing the need for stronger social safety nets and targeted interventions.
Citizens have also taken to social media to criticize the Federal Government, accusing it of celebrating numbers while ignoring the realities of hunger, joblessness, and poverty.
Experts say unless government revenue is channeled into infrastructure, education, healthcare, and job creation, the hardship facing Nigerians will only deepen despite impressive fiscal reports
