According to Olumide Balogun, Google’s West Africa Director, the trend shows that students are not only looking for quick answers but are using AI to grasp complex topics such as chemistry and mathematics. He noted that this curiosity could inspire a new generation of innovators, while Google remains committed to providing tools that support their learning journey.
The data also reveals subject-specific adoption:

Popular student searches include “AI tutor for students,” “free AI tools for studying,” and “how to use AI to solve math problems,” showing a growing demand for affordable, accessible digital learning aids.
Beyond exam preparation, Nigerians are increasingly asking broader AI-related questions such as “how to use AI” (+80%), “what is the full meaning of AI” (+80%), and “who is the father of AI” (+70%), reflecting a strong drive to understand the technology itself.
