A Nigerian soldier has been apprehended by the police for his alleged involvement in carjacking and armed robbery. According to sources, the soldier collaborated with a civilian to steal a Toyota Hilux in Lagos.

The pair was intercepted by law enforcement while attempting to transport the stolen vehicle to the South-South region of the country. Reports indicate that the soldier, who is affiliated with Operation Delta Safe in Bayelsa, identified himself as a military officer during the confrontation in an effort to evade capture.

Sources revealed that the soldier accompanied the civilian to facilitate clearance at highway checkpoints. Their plan to sell the stolen vehicle was thwarted when they were tracked and apprehended by the police.

This incident follows another case involving a soldier accused of armed robbery and attempted murder. In that case, a Nigerian Army private named Sadiq Sani allegedly attacked Abdulrahman Salihu, a businessman based in Minna, on Eid-el-Fitr. The soldier reportedly visited Salihu’s clothing shop to purchase shirts and requested the shop owner’s bank account details for payment. When Salihu refused to release the items without payment confirmation, the soldier allegedly stabbed him multiple times, severing one of his arms, before fleeing the scene.
