Nigerian Skit Maker Broda Shaggi Hospitalised After Sustaining Gunshot Wound During Video Shoot

Popular Nigerian comedian and digital content creator Samuel Perry, widely recognised by his stage name Broda Shaggi, has reportedly been hospitalised after suffering a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday afternoon around the Sango-Ota bridge area, where the entertainer and his crew were said to be recording a comedy video.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the comedian sustained the injury during the production, though the exact circumstances that led to the shooting remain unclear.
A security source who spoke anonymously said the content creator was wounded while filming and was quickly assisted by members of his production team.
“He was reportedly shooting a skit near the Sango-Ota bridge when the incident happened. His crew members immediately rushed him to a medical facility for treatment,” the source explained.
He was first taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos where he received emergency medical attention.
Medical personnel later referred him to Duchess International Hospital located in the Government Reserved Area of Ikeja for further treatment, where he is said to be recovering.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, said authorities were alerted after the hospital reported that a gunshot victim had been admitted.
According to her, police detectives were immediately dispatched to the hospital to verify the situation.
“The hospital contacted the police after receiving a patient with a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim was a popular skit maker known as Broda Shaggi. He had an injury on his thigh and was placed on a stretcher,” she said.
She added that preliminary information indicated the incident happened in Sango-Ota, which falls outside Lagos State jurisdiction, but authorities have begun preliminary inquiries.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, stated that the command had not yet received any formal complaint or official report regarding the shooting.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine how the shooting occurred and whether it was accidental or related to other circumstances.
Broda Shaggi is one of Nigeria’s most prominent online comedians, known for his humorous skits that have gained millions of followers across social media platforms.
