Nigerian Elections: Use right channels to contest results – United Nations to aggrieved parties
The United Nations (UN) has urged political parties and candidates aggrieved with the results of Nigeria’s presidential elections conducted last Saturday, to take it up legally and constitutionally
UN spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, stated this in an interview with NAN.
Dujarric said Nigeria has a long history of peaceful transition of power
What is important is that as in any election, any… that if any candidate or group of candidates have an issue with the results that they go through the established legal and constitutional channels to work out their challenges.
“And it is very important for everyone to remain calm as that process or these processes play out,” Dujarric.
INEC on Wednesday announced that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, is the winner of the 2023 presidential election
The Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have so far rejected the results and demanded that INEC chairman, Yakubu Mahmood resign while fresh polls are conducted
