The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of eight individuals, including two key suspects believed to be facilitators in a suicide bombing network, following intelligence-led operations by troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK).
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, confirmed in a statement on Monday that searches of the suspects’ residence yielded cash, mobile phones, ATM cards, identification documents, jewellery, and other personal items. All recovered materials are currently undergoing forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations.
During identification procedures, a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as individuals who supplied materials used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Other occupants of the residence were also linked to the network. All suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing detailed interrogation to recover further intelligence before being transferred for continued investigation.
In a related operation, OPHK troops intercepted a large cache of suspected terrorist logistics in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area, Adamawa State, on January 4, 2026. The troops seized 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), totaling approximately 1,125 litres, suspected to have been intended for terrorist use.
The suppliers reportedly fled upon sighting the military personnel, abandoning the fuel, which is now in military custody pending further action.
