Senator Ali Ndume has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress will retain power in the 2027 elections, arguing that opposition figures have not offered any fresh strategy capable of defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on Politics Today on Thursday, Ndume criticized top opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi, saying they have yet to present innovative approaches to challenge the ruling party.

“I’m not concerned because no one is bringing anything new to the table,” Ndume stated. “Everyone is talking—whether it’s Tinubu, Atiku, Amaechi, or Obi—but I don’t see any fresh ideas from them.”

He also pointed to divisions within opposition ranks, particularly in the African Democratic Congress (ADC). “Tinubu is leading, but those aiming to take control, including ADC members, are scattered and inconsistent,” he added.

While acknowledging that the opposition has prominent personalities, Ndume stressed that internal disunity has hindered their effectiveness. “Even with strong figures, they haven’t organised themselves properly. You can’t underestimate any opponent, no matter how small they appear,” he noted.

He drew parallels with past political dynamics, saying, “That’s how PDP underestimated APC initially. Buhari tried multiple times before succeeding. I’m not dismissing Obi or Amaechi entirely.”
