NCAA Seeks Prosecution of Fuji Icon Kwam 1 Over Abuja Airport Incident, Files Petition with AGF, IGP

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has formally petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, requesting the prosecution of popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, over an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a statement released on Thursday via X (formerly Twitter), the NCAA said the Fuji legend allegedly violated multiple aviation security protocols, including obstructing an aircraft, in an altercation that has drawn national attention.

The development comes hours after Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed that Kwam 1 has been placed on a no-fly list by the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) following the incident involving domestic carrier ValueJet.

Details of the Incident

The controversial incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, when Kwam 1 was scheduled to fly from Abuja to Lagos aboard a ValueJet flight. Trouble reportedly began when he attempted to board the aircraft with a liquid-filled flask exceeding the 100ml limit, a clear violation of aviation safety regulations.

Airport security officials say the flask contained alcohol, which the musician poured on a security officer during a heated exchange. Kwam 1 then allegedly breached airport security protocols by exiting the terminal without authorization, stepping onto the tarmac, and physically blocking the aircraft from taxiing even after boarding was completed and the gates were closed.

The NCAA described the act as a serious breach of aviation safety and airport operations, stating:

“The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority has officially petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to launch a thorough investigation into the incident involving musician King Wasiu Omogbolahan Olasunkanmi Adewale Ayinde Marshal, known as K1 De Ultimate, and domestic airline ValueJet.”

The agency further noted that it is seeking prosecution under the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and other relevant laws.

Kwam 1 Denies Allegations

In a statement released shortly after the NCAA’s announcement, Kwam 1 denied any wrongdoing, insisting he did not obstruct the flight or assault any personnel.

As the matter gains public traction, legal and aviation experts are watching closely to see if the AGF and IGP will initiate formal charges—potentially making it a landmark case involving celebrity behavior and airport security enforcement in Nigeria.
