Mystery as 48-Year-Old Teacher Found Dead in Classroom at King’s College Lagos – July 28, 2025

Lagos, Nigeria – July 28, 2025Tragedy struck over the weekend as a 48-year-old teacher, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, was discovered dead under unclear circumstances inside a classroom at King’s College, located on Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island.

According to reliable police sources, the incident occurred on Saturday evening and was formally reported to the Lagos State Police Command at approximately 7:40 p.m. by the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele.

School staff were said to have raised an alarm after finding Mr. Akano unresponsive within the school premises. A team of police detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) promptly visited the scene, where they cordoned off the area for a preliminary investigation.

Photographic evidence was collected, and initial assessments revealed no visible signs of injury, struggle, or foul play on the deceased.

The late Mr. Akano, a native of Oyo State and a well-known educator at the institution, was immediately transported to the Lagos Island Hospital, Odan. Upon arrival, a medical doctor on duty confirmed that he was dead.

His body has since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for preservation and a scheduled autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.

Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that investigations are ongoing, stressing that the force is treating the case with urgency and seriousness.

“We have commenced a full-scale investigation to uncover the exact circumstances that led to the sudden death of Mr. Akano. We urge the public to remain calm and allow the process to take its course,” he stated.

The mysterious death has left staff and students of King’s College in shock, with many describing the late teacher as a dedicated professional and role model.

Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as part of the ongoing investigation.
