Mozambique’s national team has been offered a special bonus of 500,000 meticais (around 11.3 million naira) each if they manage to beat Nigeria in the round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
President Daniel Francisco Chapo announced the incentive while commending the Mambas for reaching the knockout stage of the tournament.
Mozambique finished third in Group F, despite a 2-1 loss to Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in their final group match. The team will face Nigeria at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Monday, January 5.
In a message to the players and coaching staff, President Chapo praised their group-stage performance as remarkable and a source of national pride. He highlighted their hard work, bravery, and determination in achieving success on the continental stage.
To motivate the team further, Chapo confirmed the 500,000 meticais bonus for every player and coach if they defeat the Super Eagles and advance to the quarterfinals. He assured the Mambas that the entire nation stands behind them and believes they can overcome Nigeria.
