Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe relationship: Why does she blame herself for the singer’s death?
September 7,2022
Debbie Rowe claimed that she didn’t react when a doctor allegedly prescribed Michael Jackson dangerous painkillers. Jackson passed away in June 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest caused by the anaesthetic propofol
The aforementioned drug was reportedly administered by his then physician, Conrad Murray, who was sentenced to four years in jail after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter
Yet, Rowe revealed in the new documentary ‘TMZ Investigates: Who Really Killed Michael Jackson’ that she worked for dermatologist Dr. Klein who used to treat various Hollywood stars.
“There were times he would write prescriptions for things that had nothing to do with what we were treating them [patients] for,” Rowe said.
“I was basically as bad as [Klein]. I regret that. I will regret it. And I am so sorry that I participated in it.”
Debbie Rowe and Michael Jackson marriage
Jackson first met Rowe in the mid-1990s at Dr. Klein‘s Los Angeles offices.
They married in 1996 and broke up three years later, when Jackson received full custody of their kids, Prince and Paris.
Why did Debbie Rowe give up custody?
After the couple divorced, Rowe received an $8.5-million settlement, giving up her parental rights. In an interview back in 2003, she explained that she had no intention to become a mother
“I did it for him to become a father, not for me to become a mother,” she told The Michael Jackson Interview: The Footage You were Never Meant to See documentary
“You earn the title parent. I have done absolutely nothing to earn that title.
“Michael did all the parenting. I didn’t do it to be a mother. I didn’t change diapers. I didn’t get up in the middle of the night, even when I was there, Michael did it all.”
Does Paris Jackson have a relationship with Debbie Rowe?
Rowe maintains friendship with Paris, currently aged 24 and her daughter considers her mother as a friend.
“It’s just cool having her as a friend,” Paris told Red Table Talk.
“It’s very chill – which I love – it’s the perfect word to describe it.”
