July 21, 2025 – England international Marcus Rashford has been spotted in Barcelona as the Manchester United forward nears a season-long loan move to Spanish giants FC Barcelona for the 2025/26 campaign.
The 27-year-old attacker arrived in Spain on Sunday evening and was captured on video smiling and giving a thumbs-up as he was welcomed by fans upon arrival in the Catalan capital. Rashford’s temporary switch to Camp Nou includes a £26 million option-to-buy clause, which could see the deal made permanent next summer.
According to reports, Rashford has agreed to a 15% wage cut to secure the move, but will still earn an impressive £12.1 million annual salary while playing in La Liga. He is expected to join a star-studded attack line featuring Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski.
Footage shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shows Rashford landing at a Barcelona airport, accompanied by members of his entourage. He is set to undergo his medical examination with the club in the coming hours, with an official unveiling expected shortly after.
Rashford, a product of Manchester United’s academy, has scored 138 goals and provided 77 assists in 426 appearances for the Red Devils. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where he contributed four goals and six assists in 17 appearances, though the club opted against triggering the £40 million permanent clause in his deal.
If the Barcelona move becomes permanent, Rashford will become the first Englishman to play for the club’s senior side since Gary Lineker, who scored 51 goals in 138 games during his three-year spell with the Catalan club in the late 1980s.
Barcelona’s pre-season tour of Asia begins on July 27 with a match against Vissel Kobe, followed by clashes with FC Seoul and Daegu FC in South Korea. Rashford could feature in those games if his medical and registration are completed in time.
The move marks a new chapter in Rashford’s career and a rare high-profile transfer of an English player to La Liga, especially to Barcelona — a club that has historically had few English players on its books.
