Bayern Munich continue to reign supreme in Germany as FC Hollywood put on a show in the DFL-Supercup after an eight-goal thriller saw the Bavarians come out 5-3 winners over RB Leipzig
Despite being three goals up at half time, a second half comeback from Leipzig had Bayern on the ropes in the final minutes, when Dani Olmo put the DFB-Pokal winners within a goal of the Bundesliga champions.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring after just 14 minutes, before Sadio Mane bagged his first Bayern goal as he tapped in a Serge Gnabry cross.
Musiala was involved in Bayern’s third, as he combined with Thomas Muller before feeding Benjamin Pavard who made no mistake as the German giants were in full control.
After the break, Bayern started well and Mane went close to getting his second of the game.
But from a commanding position, Bayern took their foot off the gas and Leipzig took advantage
First, Andre Silva hit the post with a header, then Olmo saw an effort deflected just over the crossbar.
Marcel Halstenberg did give Leipzig a lifeline just before the hour mark when he headed a corner past Manuel Neuer.
That seemed to give Leipzig hope, but Bayern hit back hen Gnabry got on the end of a rebound, after Muller forced a save from Peter Gulacsi, and he smashed into the roof of the net.
Not a team to give up so easily, Olmo was fouled by Pavard in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.
Christopher Nkunku stepped up and scored what seemed to be another consolation.
Mane had two further goals ruled out for offside, and then with just one minute to go Olmo finished off a Leipzig counter-attack to make the score 4-3.
As Leipzig pushed for an equaliser, a break and goal from Leroy Sane put the game to bed and Bayern were crowned DFL-Supercup winners
