Manchester United Rule Out Gianluigi Donnarumma Move as Agent Hints at Premier League Switch

Manchester United have reportedly decided not to pursue a deal for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, despite growing speculation over his future.
Donnarumma, 26, was left out of PSG’s squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur, with new signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille set to start. Chevalier’s arrival signals PSG’s plan to replace the Italian international as their first-choice shot-stopper.
The former AC Milan star has since confirmed his departure from PSG in a social media post, hinting that the decision was made without his consent.
United Turn Focus Away from Donnarumma
According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Manchester United are not in the race for Donnarumma’s signature. Instead, the club may target a younger goalkeeper if they choose to strengthen in that position this summer.
Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens has been identified as a potential option, although a new goalkeeper is not currently considered a priority in United’s transfer plans.
Agent Confirms Premier League Interest
Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, has left the door open for a Premier League move before the close of the transfer window. Speaking to reporters, Raiola criticised PSG’s handling of his client’s exit and revealed that English clubs could still be in the frame.
“We will consider solutions now — maybe in the Premier League there will be clubs able to pay what’s needed. Paris Saint-Germain are asking for big money. They talk about respect, but it’s only about the money,” Raiola said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester City Monitoring Situation
Local rivals Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on Donnarumma as a potential replacement for Ederson, who is attracting interest from Galatasaray. City could attempt a cut-price deal, with Donnarumma’s PSG contract set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The Italian’s next move is expected to be one of the biggest goalkeeping stories of the transfer window, with several European clubs monitoring developments closely.
