Manchester United have reportedly reignited negotiations to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, following the breakdown of his high-profile move to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal.

The Nigerian international, who scored 37 goals and provided eight assists during a standout loan spell at Galatasaray last season, was close to a switch to the Middle East. However, his transfer collapsed due to failure to agree personal terms with the Saudi Pro League side.

Victor Osimhen Transfer: Man United Back in the Race

According to reports from FootMercato, Manchester United have resumed formal talks with Napoli for Osimhen, who is widely regarded as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.

United are reportedly prepared to table a €75 million (£63.8m) package, including bonuses, to sign the 26-year-old. They are also offering Osimhen a salary worth €12 million (£10.2m) per year, making him one of the highest earners at Old Trafford.

Napoli Could Be Forced to Sell

With only one year left on his contract, Osimhen is unlikely to renew under the leadership of newly appointed manager Antonio Conte, with whom he has a strained relationship. Napoli may be forced to accept Manchester United’s offer to avoid losing him for free in the summer of 2026.

Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille in 2020 for €78.9 million, and although a sale now would mark a minor financial loss, his market value remains among the highest for strikers in Europe. He has tallied 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for the Italian champions.

Osimhen’s Uncertain Future After Conte’s Lukaku Move

Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s historic 2022–23 Scudetto triumph, netting 26 goals in 32 Serie A appearances. However, he was sidelined last season following Conte’s decision to bring in Romelu Lukaku, further straining relations between player and coach.

Last summer, the Super Eagles striker was linked with both Chelsea and Al-Ahli in dramatic deadline day talks, but no move materialized. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will reignite their interest this window.

What Does This Mean for Viktor Gyokeres?

Manchester United’s renewed focus on Victor Osimhen may have implications for their interest in Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish international is also on the Red Devils’ radar, though he is currently being pursued by Arsenal and former manager Ruben Amorim, now at a new club.

Arsenal have already submitted an official bid for Gyokeres, but Sporting Lisbon are expected to reject the opening offer. Manchester United must now decide whether to go all-in for Osimhen or pivot to Gyokeres as a backup option.
