Cristiano Ronaldo‘s second spell at Manchester United comes to an end, as confirmed in a statement by the Premier League club.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect,” a short statement began.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to achieve success on the field.”
A move to Newcastle?
There are many clubs that will be eager to snap up the Portuguese forward. Among them are Newcastle United and, with their limitless budget, they are serious candidates to land him should their head coach Eddie Howe approve of the move.
However, Ronaldo has always made it clear that he wants to play in the Champions League, and the Magpies are not in Europe. They are however currently in the top four and could make it into the Champions League next season
