A man has gone viral after allegedly denying his wife on stage to kiss Nigerian singer Tems during her performance at the Afro Punk Festival in Brazil over the weekend.
In a video circulating online, Tems can be heard telling the man she didn’t want to disrespect his wife while serenading him. Despite the woman standing behind him, the man insisted he wasn’t married.
“I know your wife is here and I need to respect her,” Tems told him.
The man, however, proceeded to kiss Tems’ hand, prompting the crowd to erupt in screams and cheers.
The incident has reignited discussions about Afrobeats artists interacting with fans’ partners during live performances.
This follows a similar controversy in February 2024, when Omah Lay invited a female fan reportedly at his London concert with her boyfriend to join him on stage during his song Bend You. Videos of the encounter went viral, and the couple reportedly broke up afterward.
