Liverpool Set to Smash British Transfer Record with £120m Deadline Day Deal for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak

Liverpool are on the verge of completing a sensational Deadline Day transfer for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak in a deal worth more than £115 million — setting a new British transfer record.
The Sweden international is scheduled to undergo a medical on Monday morning before signing a six-year contract at Anfield. The agreement eclipses the £115m Chelsea paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo in 2023, making Isak the most expensive signing in British football history.
Liverpool had an initial £110m plus add-ons offer rejected earlier in August, but Newcastle eventually softened their stance after weeks of negotiations. The Magpies had originally valued the 24-year-old forward at £150m.
Isak’s frustration over missing the opening weeks of the season and his declaration that “the relationship can’t continue” accelerated talks. Newcastle’s record signing of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for up to £69m also paved the way for Liverpool to make their decisive move.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are racing to secure a replacement for Callum Wilson, who departed on a free transfer at the end of last season. The Magpies have had multiple bids rejected for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa and Wolves’ Jorgen Strand-Larsen.
In a dramatic twist, Wissa took to Instagram to demand a transfer on the eve of Deadline Day, accusing Brentford of going back on assurances that he would be allowed to leave. However, Brentford have declined to comment on the player’s claims.
If completed, the signing of Isak will not only break records but also significantly boost Liverpool’s attacking firepower as they aim for Premier League and Champions League glory this season.
