Cove Rangers sign Cameron Stewart on loan from Ipswich

“My agent and Paul were in contact, I came up last week and really liked the set-up, and I felt right away this was the place for me. I enjoyed my time with Crusaders, it felt like I was playing proper men’s football there, and I was happy with how it went,” Stewart told the club website.

“I’m ready for this move and can’t wait to get started

I see this as a step-up, I’ve watched Scottish football for years and I think it’s a good standard. It’s going to be a good test for me at this stage of my career. I know there have been a lot of changes here this summer and I’m sure I’ll settle in okay. For me personally, it’s all about getting as much game time as I can and trying to help the club get back up to the Championship.”

Manager Paul Hartley added: “He’s another good defensive option, fits the profile of the type of player we’ve been trying to sign, is young and full of energy. He’s a ball playing centre-half, but he’s also aggressive and we liked what we saw of him last week.

“Cameron comes out of a good youth set-up at a big club, he’ll have learned good habits, and this is a real opportunity for him to establish himself.

“He made an impact last week when he was here, we’ve studied a lot of his footage from last season, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

“I’m very happy to have signed such a long-term deal with the club,” he told the club website.

“Every game I played (last season) I felt like I learned something. The more the season went on, the more comfortable I felt in the team. For me personally, scoring my first goal was the highlight of the season

“If I can contribute more goals and more assists, and really help us push for promotion, that’s what I’m aiming to do.”

Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber added: “We’re all delighted that Liam has committed his long-term future to the football club. This continues to show our dedication to the development of our young players.

“Liam has been top class since he walked into the Lotus Training Centre and deserves this recognition for both his quality and hard work.”

Chelsea ‘end interest in Rayan Cherki due to attitude concerns’

Chelsea have allegedly ended their interest in Lyon protege Rayan Cherki due to concerns over the winger’s attitude.

Despite being just 19 years of age, Cherki has already been a first-team regular for Les Gones for the past couple of seasons and enjoyed his most productive campaign to date in 2022-23.

Cherki directly contributed to 11 goals from 39 matches across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, netting five of his own while providing six assists, taking his total for Lyon to 14 goals and 16 assists in 102 games.

The teenager also has six goals and three assists under his belt from 14 appearances for France at Under-21 level, including two strikes at the recent European Championships as Les Bleuets lost to Ukraine in the quarter-finals.

Trevoh Chalobah ‘keen to leave Chelsea this summer

Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah has reportedly decided that he wants to leave the club in the current transfer window.

Since enjoying three productive loan spells with Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Lorient, Chalobah has become an established member of the Blues’ first-team setup.

The 24-year-old has turned out 63 times for his boyhood club – contributing four goals and one assist – and he made 33 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign.

Chalobah proved a useful option due to his versatility – featuring as a central defender and right-back – as he started 18 Premier League games and a further four in the Champions League.

Liverpool considering hijacking Man City bid for Josko Gvardiol?

Liverpool reportedly remain in the race for RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol and could still hijack Manchester City‘s attempts to sign the Croatia international.

Since seeing a proposed move to Chelsea break down last year, Gvardiol has announced his desire to compete in the Premier League as he continues to go from strength to strength in Germany.

Earlier this summer, it was reported that Man City had reached an agreement to sign the former Dinamo Zagreb man, who has completed the first part of his Citizens medical.

Man City had seemingly shown a willingness to meet Leipzig’s €100m (£85.9m) asking price for Gvardiol, which would make the 21-year-old the most expensive defender of all time.

Mitrovic ‘wants to leave Fulham even if Saudi move falls through’

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic will reportedly push for a summer exit even if a move to Al-Hilal falls through.

The West London club have already turned down two offers for Mitrovic from the Saudi Pro League side, including the latest bid of £40m.

After being left frustrated with Fulham’s decision to reject Al Hilal’s approach, Mitrovic allegedly vowed to never play for the club again.

The Saudi Arabian side have presented Mitrovic with a lucrative contract offer that would triple his £120,000 a week wages

Forest target Turner, Petrovic as Henderson alternative?

Nottingham Forest have reportedly turned their attentions towards Matt Turner and Djordje Petrovic in the hunt for a new goalkeeper.

Dean Henderson has looked the most likely man to come in and fill the current gap in goal at the club, but negotiations with Manchester United have hit a stumbling block.

Therefore, Forest are now believed to be targeting New England Revolution past and present, with Turner, now at Arsenal, and Petrovic both linked.

Forest are said to be looking at other options because of concerns over the fitness of Henderson going forward.

Everton ‘agree deal to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Chermiti

Everton have reportedly reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to sign striker Youssef Chermiti.

The 19-year-old broke into the Sporting side during the 2022-23 season, scoring a late winner at Rio Ave to net his first professional goal in February and featuring 22 times for the club.

Another strike against Porto saw Chermiti compete with Paulinho for a starting spot during the second half of the season, as the forward also became a regular for Portugal’s Under-19s.

Fabrizio Romano claims that the two clubs have struck a deal with a verbal agreement in place for Chermiti to join the Premier League side.

Burnley have reportedly emerged as favourites to sign Arsenal‘s Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer, with the Clarets looking to bolster their midfield ranks ahead of the new season.

Since the 23-year-old’s £18m move to the Emirates from Belgian outfit Anderlecht in the summer of 2021, the midfielder has featured 39 times for the Gunners, struggling to become a consistent starter.

Mikel Arteta allowed Lokonga to go out on loan to Crystal Palace in January to search for regular first-team minutes, however he only managed to make nine appearances for the Eagles.

A lack of club gametime has seen the Belgium international miss out on call-ups for his national side in recent times, with former Belgian Red Devils boss Roberto Martinez deciding to leave the Arsenal man out of his squad for the 2022 World Cup

Mauricio Pochettino “open” to further striker signings at Chelsea

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has affirmed that he would be “open” to more attacking reinforcements arriving at West London in the coming weeks.

The Blues have splashed out a combined £84m on the double capture of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, both of whom have hit the ground running in pre-season.

Nkunku has netted in all three of Chelsea’s friendly wins over Brighton & Hove Albion, Wrexham and Fulham, while Jackson has two strikes against the Seagulls and Newcastle United.

Chelsea won the Premier League Summer Series thanks to the pair’s efforts, and they have since been expected to prioritise additions to their defence and depleted midfield.

Sheffield United ‘beat Rangers to Auston Trusty signing’

Sheffield United are reportedly poised to beat Rangers to the signing of defender Auston Trusty from Arsenal, with the Blades looking to further bolster their squad ahead of a Premier League return.

The 24-year-old impressed during his first season in the English game while on loan at Birmingham City last term, playing 44 Championship matches for John Eustace‘s side.

Trusty’s athleticism allowed him to adapt quickly to the rigours of second-tier football, helping Blues to a comfortable 17th-placed finish in the 2022-23 campaign.

The two-time USA international made the switch to the Emirates Stadium from Colorado Rapids in January 2022 before being loaned back to MLS for the first half of that calendar year, meaning that the American has played a lot of football over the past 18 months.

Arsenal ‘open talks with David Raya over personal terms

Arsenal have reportedly begun discussions with the entourage of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya over personal terms.

Despite tying Aaron Ramsdale down to a new contract earlier this year and signing Matt Turner as a backup option in 2022, Arsenal are believed to be exploring a move for Raya.

The Spain international has previously been linked with a switch to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but the two Premier League sides instead moved for Andre Onana and Guglielmo Vicario respectively.

Bayern Munich – whose current number one Manuel Neuer is nursing a broken leg – are now reported to be one of the main contenders for Raya, as the German champions could also lose Yann Sommer to Inter Milan

Nice’s move for Wolves defender Ait-Nouri hangs in balance?

Nice are reportedly pushing to complete the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.

On the back of a frustrating campaign where they finished in ninth place in Ligue 1, Nice are now attempting to rebuild under new boss Francesco Farioli.

However, while four departures have occurred in the South of France, Nice are yet to make an addition ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The 27-year-old was a standout performer for the Tractor Boys last season as they secured promotion to the Championship, finishing second in League One behind champions Plymouth Argyle.

Walton was an ever-present for Ipswich in the third tier and kept a division-high total of 22 clean sheets, helping Kieran McKenna‘s side to concede just 35 goals in 46 league matches.

The former Wigan Athletic man has played his senior football exclusively in the EFL, however he could now be handed the opportunity to test his credentials in the top flight of England

Chelsea midfielder Santos ‘waiting on Pochettino decision’

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino is currently deciding whether to retain the services of Andrey Santos in his Chelsea squad for 2023-24.

When the Blues signed the prospect as an 18-year-old at the turn of the year, the expectation was that he would spent at least one season on loan elsewhere.

Work permit issues prevented the teenager from remaining in Graham Potter’s squad in January, and he ultimately rejoined former club Vasco Da Gama who he had previously helped earn promotion to Brazil’s top flight.

The performances of the England Under-20 international over the past two seasons have led to the youngster being regarded as one of the best prospects in the EFL.

As many as 80 appearances in the Championship have been made since the start of 2021-22, the 19-year-old contributing five goals and seven assists during that period.

Al-Ahli ‘looking to hijack Man United bid for Amrabat’

Al-Ahli are reportedly interested in securing a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, an alleged target of Manchester United.

Ever since he starred for Morocco during the 2022 World Cup, Amrabat has been heavily linked with a wide array of top European clubs.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has dropped a major hint that the Blues are on the brink of signing Rennes midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, who is set to leave the club on loan following his arrival.

The Blues are believed to have struck an agreement with their Ligue 1 counterparts to sign the 19-year-old, who will cost the West London club approximately €27m (£23.2m).

Pochettino has been working around a depleted midfield in pre-season, having overseen the departures of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, Andrey Santos, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka have held the fort in the engine room during the summer, but Gallagher is the oldest member of that youthful quintet at 23.

Arsenal weighing up shock swoop for Kvaratskhelia?

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up an audacious move for Napoli and Georgia attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 22-year-old exploded onto the scene during Napoli’s surging run to the Serie A title last season, amassing 14 goals and 17 assists from 43 matches in all competitions.

No player provided more assists in the Italian top flight than Kvaratskhelia’s 13 last season, and the Georgian collected a host of individual accolades alongside the Scudetto.

Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele has reportedly given his approval to a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, who are now preparing to trigger his €50m (£42.8m) release clause.

In recent days, it has been claimed that the French champions have been planning to exercise the buyout clause in the France international’s deal before it increases to €100m (£85.6m) on Monday.

Les Parisiens have been linked with a swoop for Dembele for some time, having apparently considered bringing him to the Parc des Princes in 2022 when his Barcelona future was in limbo.

Chelsea were also thought to have been interested in signing Dembele, who briefly became a free agent last year before agreeing to a two-year renewal at Barca, whose volatile economic situation prevented them from tying him down for longer

Transfer rumours: Turner to Forest, Ndiaye to Marseille, Olise contract

Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner as an alternative to Dean Henderson.

The Tricky Trees assured themselves of Premier League survival last term with Henderson and Keylor Navas – who has since returned to parent club Paris Saint-Germain – in between the sticks.

Despite struggling with an injury towards the back-end of last season, Henderson and Forest are both believed to be keen on a permanent deal for the Manchester United man, but there is yet to be a breakthrough in negotiations.

Should Forest miss out on the signing of the Englishman, journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal number two Turner could instead arrive at the City Ground, where he would become Steve Cooper‘s first-choice shot-stopper.
