The Libya Police Intervention and Control Force has detained 18 undocumented nationals from Nigeria and Niger, including eight men, nine women, and one child. The operation, which targeted individuals lacking valid immigration documentation, took place in the Ghanima area following reports about the presence of foreign nationals in the region.
According to Migrant Rescue Watch on X, the undocumented nationals were apprehended during a raid and subsequently transferred to the Ghanima Police Department. “Police Intervention and Control Force, in response to reports, conducted a raid on a residence in the Ghanima area and detained 17 undocumented migrants — eight men, nine women, and one child — of Nigerien and Nigerian nationalities,” the organization stated.
The migrants are currently being held at the Ghanima Police Department, awaiting referral to the Illegal Immigration Prosecution in Al-Khums, where further legal actions will be determined. The authorities are processing the individuals to assess the next steps in accordance with Libya’s immigration laws and international protocols for handling undocumented migrants.
