The Department for Combating Illegal Migration (DCIM) in Libya’s Southern Region, in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has repatriated 163 migrants of Nigerian nationality.

The group, which includes women and children, was flown out from Sabha International Airport.

Migrant Rescue Watch announced the operation on Tuesday via its X (formerly Twitter) handle, stressed the ongoing efforts to manage and mitigate illegal migration in the region.

Meanwhile, the repatriation effort is part of a broader strategy to manage migration challenges in Libya, a key transit point for migrants seeking to reach Europe.

The IOM has been actively working with Libyan authorities to facilitate the safe return of migrants who often face harsh conditions in detention centers
