Rose Idibia, the mother of legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians, urging them to intervene and stop Edo State lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru, from pursuing her son.

In a viral video posted Thursday evening, Mrs. Idibia expressed concern over 2Baba’s mental state, citing his ongoing divorce from his estranged wife, Annie Idibia. She pleaded:

*”Good evening, Nigerians. My name is Mrs. Rose Idibia, the mother of 2Face. This message is for Miss Natasha Osawaru of Edo State. I’m calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to free my son.

My son is going through a divorce process, and he is clearly not in his right senses now. I know my son well. That is not him. Please, Natasha, the beads you put on his hand and neck—remove them and free him.”*

A New Relationship?

Speculation about a romantic relationship between 2Baba and Osawaru has been growing since January 2025, when the singer publicly announced his separation from Annie Idibia, his wife of over a decade.

Rumors intensified when 2Baba was spotted visiting the Edo State Assembly, followed by a sighting with Osawaru at a Lagos nightclub. The speculation reached a peak after a viral video showed 2Baba proposing to Osawaru. In the clip, the duo was seen dancing together before he presented her with a ring, sealing the moment with a long embrace.

2Baba Speaks Out

Responding to public backlash, 2Baba defended Osawaru, insisting she had no role in the breakdown of his marriage.

“Hon. Natasha has been dragged and called all sorts of names. She is a young, brilliant, amazing woman and had nothing to do with what happened between me and Annie. Yes, I love her, and I want to marry her,” he stated.
