Galatasaray secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Liverpool in a tense encounter in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday evening at Rams Global Stadium.
The Turkish giants struck early in the match when midfielder Mario Lemina found the back of the net in the 7th minute, giving the home side a crucial lead that ultimately decided the game.
Liverpool pushed for an equaliser throughout the contest but struggled to break through Galatasaray’s disciplined defence. The game later turned heated as both sides collected several bookings from the referee.
Roland Sallai was shown a yellow card in the 77th minute, while Yunus Akgün received two quick cautions in the 77th and 78th minutes. More late bookings followed for Sacha Boey in the 87th minute, while Eren Elmalı and İlkay Gündoğan were both cautioned in stoppage time.
Liverpool also had their share of disciplinary trouble, with Jeremie Frimpong and Andrew Robertson booked in the 60th minute. Florian Wirtz also received a yellow card in the 73rd minute as tensions rose in the second half.
Despite Liverpool’s attempts to level the score, Galatasaray held firm until the final whistle to claim an important Champions League win.
