“LASU Graduate Adedamola Ogunbode Found in Shallow Grave as Police Arrest Prime Suspect”

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the location of the shallow grave where Adedamola Ogunbode, a Lagos State University (LASU) graduate, was buried. This development followed the arrest of the principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, who had been rumoured to have fled to the Benin Republic.

WE exclusively learned that Ajisomo was leading police detectives to the burial site of the deceased, shedding light on the gruesome murder that had remained unsolved since Ogunbode went missing on January 16, 2025.

Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, verified the latest progress on Tuesday, confirming both the arrest of Ajisomo and the discovery of Ogunbode’s burial site.

The victim, a Political Science Education graduate from LASU, had been missing for weeks amid speculation that his mutilated body had been discovered. Last Friday, the Lagos State Police Command disclosed the arrest of three suspects linked to the murder while actively searching for five more individuals involved in the crime.

Among the arrested suspects was a pastor, Whepetoji Sunday, who allegedly received N70,000 from the victim’s account. Another suspect, Sheriff Adebayo, a church member, was accused of receiving N300,000. Additionally, the police apprehended Omolara Ajisomo, the mother of the prime suspect. She allegedly facilitated the escape of her children, Teniola and Olaoluwa Ajisomo, after they each received N300,000 from Ogunbode’s account.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case after the students’ union threatened to launch a statewide protest demanding justice.

Hundeyin revealed that Olaoluwa Ajisomo was arrested on Monday morning in the Alakuko area of Lagos. He was identified as the person responsible for depleting Ogunbode’s bank account through the victim’s mobile phone.

“The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning at the Alakuko area. He was the one who cleared the victim’s bank account using the victim’s mobile phone,” Hundeyin stated.

Dispelling social media speculation, Hundeyin clarified that the grave was not within the premises of the church where the arrested cleric worshipped but was instead located within the community. To prevent retaliatory violence, the police sealed off the church following intelligence reports of a planned arson attack.

“The shallow grave is not around the church premises, but it is there in the community. The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance, and we do not want that to happen,” he added.

Meanwhile, a police source disclosed that officers were en route to exhume Ogunbode’s remains after the prime suspect confessed to the crime and led them to the burial site.

“I just received information that the newly arrested suspect has confessed to killing the LASU graduate, and the police are on their way to the burial site,” the source confirmed.

When we reached out to Hundeyin for final confirmation, he responded succinctly: “Confirmed.”
