Lamido Urges PDP to Expel Wike, Ortom, Ikpeazu Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, has called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, former Benue State governor Samuel Ortom, and former Abia State governor Okezie Ikpeazu over alleged anti-party activities.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Lamido accused the trio of openly supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) and working against the PDP’s interest in the last general election. He claimed their recent statements and political alignments indicated plans to back the APC in the 2027 presidential election.

“All those erring members, the Wikes, the Ortoms, the Ikpeazus and others, who openly campaigned against the PDP in the 2023 elections, and who say they are going to work for APC in 2027, should be sacked from the party,” Lamido said.

The former governor expressed frustration at what he described as a culture of impunity within the PDP, noting that from the 2022 primaries through the 2023 polls, some members undermined the party because their personal ambitions were not met. He argued that such politicians were merely “platform seekers” willing to use any political party that served their personal interests.

Lamido stressed the need to differentiate between genuine PDP loyalists and opportunists.

“If someone feels the PDP won’t give them the fairness they need to pursue their ambition, they can seek another platform. That’s not a crime, but they should not undermine the party from within,” he added.

He further criticised the party leadership for failing to enforce its constitution, which provides for sanctions against members who violate its code of conduct. Lamido said the PDP had tolerated such behaviour for over 18 months without decisive action.

As a mark of protest, Lamido declared that he would boycott future PDP Board of Trustees meetings until disciplinary measures are taken against the accused members.
