Lagos, August 2, 2025 – The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Taskforce) has intensified its traffic management efforts, impounding 55 commercial vehicles and clearing an illegal motor park under the Agege bridge as part of a city-wide clampdown on traffic violations.

The large-scale enforcement operation, led by Taskforce Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele, targeted Danfo buses, Korope minibuses, and Keke Marwa tricycles that had converted the Agege roundabout along Ogba Road into an unauthorized parking hub.

According to the Taskforce, the operation followed weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering through its “See Something, Say Something” platform. The clean-up exercise was also extended to Ogba, Iju, and Ishaga corridors, which have suffered persistent traffic congestion caused by indiscriminate parking and illegal loading points.

CSP Akerele condemned the persistent lawlessness of commercial drivers, stressing that much of Lagos’ traffic chaos is man-made.

“Traffic gridlock in these areas is largely self-inflicted. This operation sends a clear message that we will no longer tolerate indiscipline on Lagos roads,” he stated.

He described the exercise as part of Lagos State’s new traffic management strategy, aimed at reducing travel time, improving public safety, and enforcing strict road discipline.

The Taskforce also emphasized that similar clampdowns will continue across Lagos to dismantle illegal motor parks and restore order on major routes notorious for congestion.
