The Lagos State Government has announced that rehabilitation work will begin on the Lekki–Ajah corridor on Saturday, November 15, 2025, as part of efforts to improve road conditions and reduce persistent traffic congestion along the busy route.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the project will span eight months, concluding on July 15, 2026, and will be executed in two phases to minimize disruption to traffic and businesses.
Osiyemi explained that Phase One will cover the section from Lekki’s First Toll Gate to the Second Toll Gate, divided into seven segments. One lane will remain open for traffic while the other undergoes reconstruction, before switching sides upon completion.
Phase Two will extend from the Second Toll Gate to the Ajah Under-Bridge, covering four segments. During this phase, motorists moving from Ajah to Lekki will use one lane while repairs are carried out on the other, after which traffic flow will be reversed.
The commissioner assured residents that traffic management officers will be fully deployed to ensure smooth vehicular movement throughout both stages of the project.
Osiyemi urged motorists and residents to cooperate with traffic personnel and remain patient, emphasizing that the temporary inconvenience will result in long-term road improvements.
“This rehabilitation is part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda, focused on sustainable urban mobility and infrastructure renewal across the state,” he added.
The project complements the ongoing Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway rehabilitation from Admiralty Way Junction to the Jubilee Bridge in Ajah, launched in September to further enhance road infrastructure within Eti-Osa LGA and Eti-Osa East LCDA.
