The Lagos State Police Command’s Elere Division has launched a manhunt for a man identified as Kadiri Yusuf, also known as Alado, for allegedly physically assaulting and abusing his two children.
According to a police report released on Sunday, Yusuf is accused of assaulting his 11-year-old daughter, a primary school pupil in the Orile Agege area, and her 13-year-old brother. The head teacher of the girl’s school reported the incident to the Elere Police Division on Friday at around 5 p.m.
The head teacher explained that earlier that morning, at about 7 a.m., the 11-year-old girl came to school with visible injuries and told her that her father had beaten her and her older brother, inflicting bodily harm on both.
Following the report, police quickly retrieved the children, who were treated for their injuries and placed in the care of their mother’s sister for safety. Efforts are now underway to apprehend Yusuf, who has since fled the scene.
The police stated, “Both victims have been retrieved, treated, and handed over to their mother’s sister for safe custody, while efforts to apprehend the fleeing father are in top gear.” Investigations are ongoing.
