Lagos Man Sentenced to 76 Years in Prison for Child Pornography, Cybercrime and Fraud

Lagos, Nigeria – A Lagos State High Court has sentenced a man, Olukeye Adedayo Olalekan, to a total of 76 years in prison after he was found guilty of multiple charges, including child pornography, cyberstalking, internet fraud, and money laundering.
Olalekan was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an 18-count charge. The verdict came after the EFCC presented overwhelming evidence linking him to serious cyber-related offences.
Justice Alexander Owoeye, who presided over the case, ruled that the prosecution had successfully proven all charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
According to the EFCC, Olalekan exploited social media—particularly Instagram—to create a group named “Expose Janjua Robin Nudes,” which he used to distribute indecent images of minors. The commission further revealed that the convict operated under multiple aliases, including hrm87, charlotte708, and harlilott_716, to mask his identity and carry out cybercrimes.
One of the key charges stated that on February 13, 2023, Olalekan intentionally set up the Instagram group to circulate child pornography, an action in violation of several provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Owoeye found Olalekan guilty on all 18 counts.
- For counts 1 to 4 (child pornography and cyberstalking), he received 2 years imprisonment per count.
- For counts 5 to 14 (retention and concealment of fraudulent proceeds), he was sentenced to 4 years per count, without an option of fine.
- For counts 15 to 18 (obtaining property by false pretences), the court handed down 7 years per count, also without the option of fine.
Although the sentences are to run concurrently, the total sentence amounts to 76 years.
The EFCC urged Nigerians to report similar cybercrime activities and warned that the full weight of the law would be brought upon offenders, especially those who exploit minors online.
