Lagos Launches Investigation into LASAA Worker Over Alleged Diversion of Government Funds

The Lagos State Government has opened an investigation into a staff member of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) accused of diverting official payments into a private account.
The probe began after a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) alleged that payments intended for LASAA were being redirected to an individual’s Opay account.
The whistleblower, identified as @Bhadmoz (TrueBlue), claimed that clients were charged ₦45,000 but were issued receipts showing only ₦7,100, sparking outrage and calls for government intervention.
Responding swiftly, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that the accused individual is indeed a LASAA employee.
Wahab ordered the staff member to appear at the agency’s headquarters for disciplinary proceedings, stressing that the government would not tolerate corruption or unethical conduct.
He stated, “My attention has been drawn to a report alleging improper financial practices involving an officer of an agency under our ministry. The individual has been directed to report immediately to LASAA’s head office for appropriate disciplinary action.”
The Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption, urging public servants to uphold transparency and integrity.
“This administration remains committed to accountability and ethical governance. We also appreciate citizens who expose such acts, as promoting transparency is everyone’s responsibility,” Wahab added.
LASAA serves as the regulatory body for outdoor advertising and signage in Lagos, overseeing compliance with state laws and revenue procedures.
