Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Gridlocked After Fiery Crash Destroys Vehicles

Story: Written by Myra November 18,2025

Traffic came to a near standstill on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday following a serious accident that left two vehicles completely burnt, trapping commuters for hours in both directions.

Motorists leaving Lagos were stuck in a long queue from the Alausa corridor to the Fatgbems/OPIC roundabout near Mowe, while those entering the city faced heavy congestion stretching from the Long Bridge to the same area.

The pile-up occurred near the New Garage axis, where the collision caused the vehicles to ignite, leaving charred wrecks blocking the highway. The incident worsened an already heavy traffic flow, forcing commuters to spend several hours stranded on the busy expressway.

Authorities have yet to provide updates on casualties, and efforts to clear the wreckage and restore traffic are ongo
