The Lagos State Government has sealed Donald’s, a popular restaurant located in the Lekki area, owned by renowned socialite and Instagram celebrity, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday. Wahab stated that the closure was due to the establishment’s failure to comply with multiple warnings and abatement notices concerning noise pollution and other environmental violations.
“After several warnings and abatement notices, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency #LasepaOfficial sealed Donald’s Fast Food on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki 1 over noise pollution and other environmental infractions,” Wahab’s post read.
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) had reportedly issued multiple warnings to the restaurant before taking the decision to shut it down. The move underscores the state’s firm stance on enforcing environmental regulations, especially in areas prone to high levels of urban activity, such as Lekki.
Cubana Chief Priest, known for his influence in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, is yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. However, the closure has sparked conversations on social media, with many questioning the balance between business activities and maintaining environmental standards in the bustling Lagos metropolis.
Further actions are expected from the government if the restaurant management fails to comply with the state’s environmental guidelines.
