Lagos Fire Service Rescues Woman After 60-Foot Fall Into Open Well in Ikorodu

A 32-year-old woman has been rescued alive after accidentally falling into an uncovered well about 60 feet deep at No. 14 Mustapha Bolatiwa Street, off Agric Bus Stop, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, attracted a large crowd of residents, many of whom described the woman’s survival as “a miracle.”

According to eyewitnesses, the unidentified woman reportedly wandered into the compound from a nearby area and was sitting on the edge of the well before she slipped and fell in.

Upon receiving a distress call, officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service arrived promptly and began a carefully coordinated rescue operation.

Confirming the incident, the Director of the agency, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, said the woman was safely pulled out alive after a tense operation and was immediately stabilized and taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Adeseye urged residents to secure all open wells and similar structures to prevent future tragedies, commending her team for their swift and professional response.

She reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State.
