Nigeria’s labour unions have called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address the country’s worsening economic situation and rising insecurity, which continue to inflict hardship on millions of citizens.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja, labour leaders emphasized the need for swift and strategic government action to stabilize the economy, create jobs, and restore public safety. They warned that the current cost of living crisis, driven by inflation, unemployment, and frequent attacks across various regions, is pushing Nigerians to the brink.

“The government must rise to the occasion by implementing effective economic reforms and enhancing security across the nation,” a labour spokesperson said. “Our people are suffering. Food prices are skyrocketing, wages are stagnant, and many communities live in fear.”

The unions urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritize policies that reduce poverty, ensure workers’ welfare, and promote national unity.

As the country continues to face multiple challenges, the labour movement reaffirmed its commitment to holding the government accountable and advocating for the rights of Nigerian workers and citizens.
