Security operatives in Kebbi State have successfully blocked a bandit raid in Kwagware, a community located in Arewa Local Government Area, leaving one suspected attacker dead.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday. According to him, the armed assailants stormed the area on Wednesday, November 5, stealing an undisclosed number of cattle and robbing villagers of their phones.
Officers from the Yeldu Police Division, supported by local vigilante groups, swiftly chased the gang and exchanged gunfire with them. During the operation, one suspect was neutralized, while the rest escaped into the bush with bullet injuries.
Abubakar further disclosed that residents set ablaze an unregistered Boxer motorcycle believed to belong to the criminals, while a Tecno handset was recovered from the scene.
He noted that more tactical police teams, soldiers, and vigilante operatives have been deployed to secure the community and forestall any renewed threat.
Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello M. Sani, applauded the officers for their response and urged them to continue the pressure on criminal elements across the region.
