Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has proceeded on a three-week medical leave to attend to health concerns, temporarily transferring power to his deputy, Malam Faruk Lawal.
The development was confirmed in a statement on Thursday by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Bala Salisu Zango.
Quoting the governor, Zango said: “Taking the necessary steps to prioritize my health is essential so I can continue to serve effectively and make the best decisions for our state.”
The statement added that Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal will assume the responsibilities of the governor until Radda’s return. Governor Radda expressed full confidence in his deputy’s capacity to lead, assuring that his absence will not affect the progress of government activities.
“All ongoing state programs, initiatives and projects will continue without interruption,” the statement read, adding that the administration looks forward to the governor’s return “healthy and ready to continue serving the community.”
Governor Radda is expected back in office after the three-week period.
