The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspected car thieves and recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla believed to have been snatched in Abuja.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest of the suspects — 39-year-old Michael Jatau and 21-year-old Haruna Aliyu Muhammad — by operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) on October 13, 2025, at about 11:25 a.m.

According to Kiyawa, the suspects were intercepted with a dark ash 2012 Toyota Corolla bearing registration number KRD-13-FW. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen in Abuja and transported to Kano for resale.

“The suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” Kiyawa stated.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, commended the officers for their swift action and professionalism. He also appreciated residents for their continuous support through the community policing initiative, Operation Kukan Kura.

Bakori further encouraged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement or criminal activity to the nearest police station.
